Short Bio: I am a family-man with a wife, 2 kids, 2 dogs─and chickens! I’m a Creative Designer, technical illustrator, problem-solver and Mac or Win user. I like to watch tips and tutorial videos to keep current with design software, as well as working in the yard or building something.

Top 5 notable skills
Adobe Creative Suite
My top skill-set would be the complete understanding of Adobe software.  Usually I am the person at work excited to show everyone how to use the new release of software or updating the techniques and tools we use to complete tasks because adobe came up with a better faster way.  I have been using adobe products since 1997 and would rank my understanding of the applications as follows: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Dreamweaver, Bridge, Lightroom, Acrobat. What I know about Adobe products is the learning curve does not exist for me.  I can learn and master a new application within a very short timeframe given the need to use it in my workflow.
Template Master
15 years of experience working with templates within strict brand guidelines. My last contract at Thermo Fisher was using and developing new templates in a complete rebranding effort eventually touching every piece of marketing, web, email, and print collateral.  At SAIC I reduced proposal cover production from days to less than four hours while enabling team members to accommodate last-minute binder size changes without full document re-printing by creating new cutting system and InDesign templates.  In my early years at CCH SiteBuilder I was a key member in creating all the site styles, pdf guides, UI/UX interface, and customization of member websites.
Respected Team Member
15 years experience working closely with Project Managers.  Each company had their own term for the role but project managers, proposal coordinators, and brand managers are the key part of a successful project and building relationships where they clearly understand your capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses so they can better manage the effort they are responsible for.  Clear communication and expectations are most important.  I will always offer up options or solutions for process improvements, simplifying tasks or building new templates to improve efficiency.
Working Remote
I have spent most of my design career working from a remote office. My six years at CCH was remote and we communicated with project managers mostly through our content management system, chat messengers, email or screen sharing.  I drove to the office when needed for meetings or at a minimum once a month to show face and spend time with people I work with daily. One of the important factors of working remote is distractions not normally found in an office.  All friends and family in my life are accustom to me working in home office and respect my work.
Technical Illustrator
the six years at SAIC helped fine tune my illustration techniques towards mastery.  On a daily basis we are presented with very complex scientific drawings that required the full understanding of the science before I could simplify the data into a graphic.  Having a background in science opened up the chance for me to take lead on complex graphics that intimidated other designers.
